Pictou County Natural Gas Pipeline

Description

This is to advise that on July 05, 2013, Heritage Gas Limited registered the Pictou County Natural Gas Pipeline for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct and operate a 20.5km high pressure steel natural gas pipeline to distribute natural gas to industrial customers at Abercrombie Point, Pictou Co., NS. The proposed pipeline will connect to the existing Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline steel transmission line on West River East Side Road in Limerock, Pictou Co., NS. Construction of the steel pipeline largely follows existing corridors and is planned to commence in the fall of 2013, with a targeted commissioning date of December 31, 2013.

Minister's Decision

On August 26, the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:65k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
