Maryvale Wind Project

Description

This is to advise that on June 22, 2009, Maryvale Wind LP registered the Maryvale Wind Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct and operate 4 1.5 MegaWatt Vensys V-77 wind turbines in Maryvale, Antigonish County, NS on privately owned land. The project will create 6mw of wind energy to be put directly into Nova Scotia Power Inc.’s power grid by December 2009.

Minister's Decision

On August 11, 2009 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:21k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditionsPDF Download Link (PDF:31k).

Opportunities for Public Input

Public comments on the Registration Document were accepted from June 22, 2009 to July 22, 2009. The comment period is now closed. All comments received, including any personal information, will be available to the public at the Department of Environment and Climate Change Library, 2nd floor, Halifax Office, 5151 Terminal Road.
