Keltic Petrochemicals

Project Status Update (October 14, 2009)

On October 14, 2009 the Minister authorized an extension for the commencement of work effective November 7, 2009 and expiring November 7, 2011. The Proponent must, on or before November 7, 2011, commence work on the Undertaking unless granted a written extension by the Minister.

Project Status Update (December 18, 2007):

The Minister of Environment and Labour has approved a request from MapleLNG Limited to transfer terms and conditions of environmental assessment approval for the LNG portion of the Petrochemical Plant and LNG Project to MapleLNG Ltd. Project Status Update (March 14, 2007):

The Minister of Environment and Labour has approved Keltic Petrochemicals' Liquefied Natural Gas and Petrochemicals Facility Project at Goldboro subject to terms and conditionsPDF Download Link (PDF:65k). Project Status Update (February 23, 2007):

The Department of Environment and Climate Change Assessment Board has completed its review and submitted its ReportPDF Download Link (PDF:3.8mb) to the Minister of Environment and Labour on February 21, 2007. The Minister now has 21 days to make a decision on the Undertaking. The Minister's decision options include:

  1. approve the undertaking;
  2. approve the undertaking, subject to any conditions the Minister deems appropriate; or
  3. reject the undertaking.

Project Status Update (December 7, 2006):

This is to advise that the Environmental Assessment Board has requested an extension for the preparation of the report and recommendations to the Minister of Environment and Labour. The Minister has granted that extension, and the deadline has now been extended from December 20, 2006 to February 21, 2007.

Project Status Update (June 20, 2006):

This is to advise that Keltic Petrochemicals Inc. has made a change to its proposed Liquefied Natural Gas and Petrochemicals Facility Project at Goldboro. The proponent informed Department of Environment and Climate Change on June 16, 2006, that it now intends to exclude the construction of a 54 km 2 lane highway from the project.

Description

Keltic Petrochemicals Inc. proposes to construct and operate a Petrochemical Complex supported by a Liquefied Natural Gas importation and vapourization facility and an electrical co-generation plant.
