Glen Dhu Wind Farm

Description

This is to advise that the addendum to Shear Wind Inc.'s Glen Dhu Wind Power project , east of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, will be registered for environmental assessment on December 4, 2008, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act, and in response to the Minister's decision of October 8, 2008.

Shear Wind Inc. is proposing to construct and operate a 60 MW wind energy facility consisting of 30, 2.0 MW wind turbine generators. The Glen Dhu Wind Power Project is located near Barney’s River Station in Pictou and Antigonish Counties. The Proponent anticipates an operational wind farm by 2010, pending permits and approvals.

Decision

On February 02, 2009, the Minister of Environment released a decision concerning Shear Wind’s Glen-Dhu Power-Wind Project. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13 (1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. Opportunities for Public Input

Public comments on the Registration Document were accepted December 4 to January 13, 2009. All comments received will be available to the public at the Department of Environment and Climate Change Library, 5th floor, Halifax Office, 5151 Terminal Road.
