Expansion of Debert Industrial Waste Management Facility

Description

This is to advise that on December 5, 2008, Atlantic Industrial Services registered the proposed expansion of waste management services at Debert, Nova Scotia, for environmental assessment in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to provide additional storage capacity and enhanced processing capabilities to enable the existing Debert Industrial Waste Management Facility to manage wastewater and containerized waste materials generally classified as Waste Dangerous Goods. The planned expansion will take place within the boundaries of the existing Facility located at 660 MacElmon Road, in the Debert Industrial Park, Colchester County, Nova Scotia. Implementation is planned over a two year period (2009 - 2010).

Decision

On September 25, 2009 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:105k) on this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. Opportunities for Public Input

Public comments on the Registration Document were accepted from December 05, 2008 until January 14, 2009. All comments received will be available to the public at the Department of Environment and Climate Change Library, 5th floor, Halifax Office, 5151 Terminal Road.
