The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources is responsible for administering the provincial parks program. Key objectives of that program, as set out in the Provincial Parks Act, are the protection and conservation of Nova Scotia's significant natural and historic values, provision of opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation and nature-based education, to provide resident travellers and out-of-Province visitors with opportunities to discover, experience and enjoy Nova Scotia, and to provide appropriate facilities and services.
A park concept plan is an important tool in ensuring that park planning, management and operation are consistent with the intent of the Provincial Parks Act. The Department of Natural Resources, with support from a broad-based Working Group, has developed a park concept for Martinique Beach Provincial Park. The intent of this concept is to provide a vision for Martinique Beach Provincial Park and a policy framework to guide park management over the next 10-15 years. It also identifies the actions necessary to support that vision.
The Department of Natural Resources has revised the draft management plan for Martinique Beach Provincial Park to incorporate comments received at the March 14th meeting in Musquodoboit Harbour and subsequent on-line submissions.
