Bornish Hill Nature Reserve Ecological Site Designation

made under subsections 14(1)-(4) of the

Special Places Protection Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 438

O.I.C. 93-276 (March 16, 1993), N.S. Reg. 58/93


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Education dated the 4th day of March, A.D., 1993, pursuant to subsections (1), (2), (3) and (4) of Section 14 of Chapter 438 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Special Places Protection Act, is pleased to designate as an ecological site the land described in Schedule “A” and shown on a plan attached as Schedule “B” which ecological site shall be managed in accordance with the Management Plan attached as Schedule “C”; all Schedules are attached to and form part of the report and recommendation, which shall be known as the Bornish Hill Nature Reserve, effective on the date of publication of the designation in the Royal Gazette.



Schedule “A”


ALL that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being at Upper River Denys, in the County of Inverness, Province of Nova Scotia as shown on a Plan of Survey (Field plot P-151/92) and filed in the Department of Natural Resources Office, Dartmouth, the said parcel of land being more particularly described as follows:


BEGINNING at Crown Land Survey Monument (C.L.S.M.) # IN 750 situate at the most northern corner of Crown Grant # 8995 issued to Angus McPhail;


THENCE by magnetic bearing in 1962, S 40° 45' E a distance of 73.91 Chains to C.L.S.M. # IN 243;


THENCE by magnetic bearing in 1949, N 48° 50' E a distance of 64.19 Chains to C.L.S.M. # IN 244;


THENCE by magnetic bearing in 1949, S 40° 45' E a distance of 24.26 Chains to C.L.S.M. # IN 245;

THENCE northerly, westerly and southerly following the Ordinary High Water Mark of MacLeod Brook 1500 metres more or less to a point;


THENCE by grid bearing S 33° 17' 43" W a distance of 2 metres more or less to Survey Marker IN 4231;


THENCE by grid bearing S 33° 17' 43" E a distance of 611.333 metres to Survey Marker IN 4232;


THENCE by grid bearing S 33° 17' 43" E a distance of 10 metres more or less to the Ordinary High Water mark of a branch of Glen Brook;


THENCE westerly and southerly following a branch of Glen Brook 1880 metres more or less to a point on the northwestern boundary of Crown Grant # 8995 issued to Angus McPhail;


THENCE by magnetic bearing in 1962, N 50° 00' E a distance of 6.60 chains to C.L.S.M. # IN 746;


THENCE by magnetic bearing in 1962, N 50° 00' E a distance of 41.68 chains to the Place of BEGINNING.


ABOVE described parcel of land containing an area of 960 hectares more or less.
