Sand River Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 80-215 (February 19, 1980), N.S. Reg. 27/80


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 12th day of February, A.D., 1980, pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Sand River Beach, in the County of Cumberland, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-11-18 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate lying and being “Lands Lying Landward From The Mean High Water Mark Of Sand River Beach” as shown on a plan of survey number P-167/78 prepared by Province of Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forests, Surveys Division, dated November 22, 1978 being in the Community of Sand River, County of Cumberland, Province of Nova Scotia being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at Iron Post #1, situate on the mean high water mark of Chignecto Bay, said Iron Post #1 being in a southwesterly direction 1,629.70 feet (on a clockwise angle of 140° 35' 31" referenced to the centre of the Sand River Bridge and on a clockwise angle of 110° 57' 32" referenced to Crown Post No. C-30) from Hub “A”, said Hub “A” being 1,416.18 feet from the centre of the Sand River Bridge and 1,145.44 feet from Crown Post No. C-30, as shown on the above mentioned plan of survey;


Thence from the place of beginning in a northeasterly and southwesterly direction following the various courses of the mean high water mark of Chignecto Bay and Sand River 3200 feet more or less, to a point;


Thence westerly 47 feet more or less to Iron Post #2, said Iron Post #2 being on a clockwise angle at said Hub “A” referenced to the centre of the Sand River Bridge 82° 33' 06", 243.94 feet from Hub “A”;


Thence continuing westerly 33 feet more or less to a point;


Thence northerly and southwesterly parallel to an equal distant [distance] from the mean high water mark of Sand River and Chignecto Bay 1600 feet more or less to a point;


Thence northerly 80 feet more or less to the place of beginning.
