September 23, 2014RETAIL TRADE JULY 2014 In Canada July 2014 retail sales (
seasonally adjusted) decreased 0.1% from June 2014 to $42.5 billion and increased 5.0% over July 2013. On a year-to-date basis, retail sales increased 4.8% over Jan-July 2013 to $292.3 billion.
In Nova Scotia July 2014, retail sales (
seasonally adjusted) increased 1.6% from June 2014 to $1.2 billion and increased 3.9% over July 2013. On a year-to-date basis, retail sales increased 2.7% over Jan-July 2013 to $8.1 billion.
Nova Scotia year-to-date
unadjusted retail sales increased 2.8% ($7.8 billion) in Jan-July 2014 over Jan-July 2013. Large declines were observed in Electronics and Appliance Stores (-$17.1 million). The largest increases were in Gasoline stations up 7.7% ($89.5 million), Motor vehicle and parts dealers up 4.1% ($73.3 million) and General Merchandise up 7.0% ($58.2 million).
Canada and the ProvincesAlberta led the provinces in year-to-date (+8.6%) and in year-over-year (8.9%). NL led in month-over-month (+1.9%) retail sales.
Nova Scotia ranked 8th in year-to-date (+2.7%) growth, 9th in year-over-year(+3.9%), and 2nd in month-over-month (1.6%) retail sales.
