COMMUNITY PROFILE FOR JULY: TOWN OF NEW GLASGOW

According to CBC news (Convergys closing New Glasgow call centre), the Convergys call centre in New Glasgow will be closed on September 28, 2014. The closure will affect 300 employees, who will be able to apply work-from-home positions and positions at other locations. However, there is no guarantee of a job offer. The following Community Profile provides a glimpse at how the Town of New Glasgow looked in 2011.

Based on the 2011 Census of Population, Town of New Glasgow has a population of 9,574 which is 0.3% higher than in 2001. In 2011, 21.1% of the population was under the age of 20 and 21.0% was 65 years or older.

In comparison, Nova Scotia has a population of 921,725 which is 1.5% higher than in 2001. 21.2% of the population was under the age of 20 and 16.6% was 65 years or older.


Median and Average Income
