October 16, 2017Test - EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, AUGUST 2017 In August 2017, the euro area (EA19) recorded a €16.1 bn surplus in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world. The first estimate for EA19 exports of goods reported an increase of 6.8 per cent to €171.5 billion over August 2016. Imports increased 8.6 per cent to €155.4 bn over August 2016.
It was also reported that intra-euro area trade increased 7.6 per cent to €132.9 bn over August 2016.
In August 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €5.1 bn deficit in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods reported an increase of 6.4 per cent to €145.5 billion over August 2016. Imports increased 3.9 per cent to €150.5 bn over August 2016.
It was also reported that intra-EU28 area trade increased 7.7 per cent to €249.3 bn over August 2016.

In January-August 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €75.4 bn surplus in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods to the US reported a increase of 4.0 per cent to €248.1 billion over Jan-Aug 2016. Imports increased 3.4 per cent to €172.7 bn over Jan-Aug 2016.
In January-August 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €4.0 bn surplus in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods to Canada reported a increase of 8.8 per cent to €25.2 billion over Jan-Aug 2016. Imports increased 12.7 per cent to €21.2 bn over Jan-Aug 2016.
