NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-JUNE 2017

In January-June 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 6.5% over Jan-Jun 2016. The 29,975 new vehicles sold in January-June represented a value of $1.07 billion, up 12.9% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January-June 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 5.0 per cent over Jan-Jun 2016 to 1,056,759 units. January-June dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 10.3 per cent over January-June 2016 to $41.9 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-June 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value increased 18.7% (79.1% share) over Jan-Jun 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 9.4% (20.9% share) over Jan-Jun 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-June 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 11.8% (81.8% share) over Jan-Jun 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 12.0% (18.2% share) over Jan-Jun 2016.

Average Prices

In January-June 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 5.1% to $39,653 over Jan-Jun 2016.  In Nova Scotia the average unit price increased 6.0% to $35,703 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-June 2017,  Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales decreased 2.3 per cent over Jan-Jun 2016 to 10,668 units. January-June passenger car dollar sales increased 1.0 per cent over January-June 2016 to $280.8 million.

In January-June 2017,  Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 12.1 per cent over Jan-Jun 2016 to 19,307 units. January-June truck dollar sales increased 17.8 per cent over January-June 2017 to $789.3 million.

The truck share of the new motor vehicle sales value stands at 73.8%, and in the new motor vehicle unit sales volume stands at 64.4%

 



In Nova Scotia January-June 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,884 and increased for cars to $26,326 over Jan-Jun 2016.
