UK GDP Q2 (THIRD ESTIMATE)

The UK Office of National Statistics reported real GDP for the second quarter of 2016 grew by 0.7 per cent from the first quarter, revised up 0.1 percentage point from the second estimate. That corresponded to a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 2.7 per cent growth. Manufacturing, production (the sum of primary industries, utilities, and manufacturing), and service industries showed an increase while construction declined. Compared to the second quarter of 2015, GDP increased by 2.1 per cent, revised down by 0.1 percentage point from the preliminary estimate due to an upward revision to Q2 2015 GDP. The Office of National Statistics noted that there was very little anecdotal evidence at present to suggest that the EU referendum has had an impact on GDP in the second quarter of 2016.
