August 22, 2016Correction - NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-JUNE 2016 In January-June 2016, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 4.2% over Jan-Jun 2015. The 28,134 new vehicles sold in January-June represented a value of $918.3 million, up 6.9% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2015.
Please note that the following two charts had mis-labeled sales and unit value growth by province in the original release 16 August 2016.
In January-June 2016, Canadian unit sales increased 5.5 per cent over Jan-Jun 2015 to 1,006,036 units. January-June dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 8.3 per cent over January-June 2015 to $37.0 billion.
In Nova Scotia January-June 2016, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value increased 8.0% (78.5% share) over Jan-Jun 2015. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 6.0% (21.5% share) over Jan-Jun 2015.
In January-June 2016, Nova Scotia North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 5.5% (78.0% share) over Jan-Jun 2015. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 2.2% (22.0% share) over Jan-Jun 2015.
Average Prices
In January-June 2016, the average unit price in Canada increased 2.7% to $36,782 over Jan-Jun 2015. In Nova Scotia the average unit price increased 2.7% to $32,639 over the same period last year. In Alberta the average unit price increased 0.1% to $40.671 over the same period last year.
