NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-DECEMBER 2015

In January-December 2015, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales  increased 2.0% over Jan-Dec 2014. The 54,971 new vehicles sold from January to December represented a value of $1.8 billion, up 6.7% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2014.


In January-December 2015,  Canadian unit sales increased 2.6 per cent over Jan-Dec 2014 to 1,939,949 units. Year-to-date dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 5.6 per cent over Jan-Dec 2014 to $69.9 billion.



In Nova Scotia January-December 2015, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value increased 5.22 per cent (78.3% share) over Jan-Dec 2014. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 12.4% (21.7% share) over Jan-Dec 2014.




In Nova Scotia January-December 2015, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales declined 0.1% (77.6% share) over Jan-Dec 2014. Motor vehicle  unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 10.3% (22.4% share) over Jan-Dec 2014.

In Jan-Dec 2015, the average unit price in Canada increased 2.9% to $36,015 over Jan-Dec 2014.  In Nova Scotia the average unit price increased 4.6% to $32,025 over the same period last year. In Alberta the average unit price declined 0.4% to $40,690 over the same period last year.
