The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales for January 2016 was a seasonally adjusted $449.9 billion, 0.2 per cent higher than December 2015 and 3.4 per cent higher than January 2015. Monthly retail sales have declined twice in the past year.
Food and beverage stores sales increased 0.5 per cent on a monthly basis, and 2.0 per cent year over year. Gasoline stations sales decreased 3.1 per cent monthly and decreased 8.1 per cent compared to January 2015.
