September 04, 2015LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - AUGUST 2015 In Nova Scotia August 2015 (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force decreased 0.1% (-700) from July 2015 to 488,600 and was virtually unchanged (-100) compared to August 2014.
- Employment decreased 0.4% (-1,800) from July 2015 to 447,700 and increased 0.2% (+1,000) over August 2014.
- Unemployment increased 2.8% (+1,100) from July 2015 to 40,900 and decreased 2.9% (-1,200) over August 2014.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.3 percentage points from July 2015 to 8.4%.
In Canada August 2015 (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force was increased 0.3% (+52,000) from July 2015 to 19.3 million and increased 1.1% (+203,600) over August 2014.
- Employment increased 0.1% (+12,000) from July 2015 to 18.0 million and increased 1.1% (+193,300) over August 2014.
- Unemployment increased 3.1% (+40,100) from July 2015 to 1.3 million and increased 0.8% (+10,300) over August 2014.
- Unemployment increased 0.2 percentage points from July 2015 to 7.0%.
In Halifax August 2015 (3 month moving average, seasonally adjusted):
- Labour force increased 0.3% (+700) from July 2015 to 238,200 and increased 1.4% (+3,200) over August 2014.
- Employment increased 0.8% (+1,700) from July 2015 to 224,600 and increased 1.1% (+4,400) over August 2014.
- Unemployment decreased 6.8% (-1,000) from July 2015 to 13,600 and decreased 5.6% (-800) over August 2014.
- Unemployment rate decreased 04 percentage points from July 2015 to 5.7%.
