July 02, 2015US EMPLOYMENT, JUNE 2015 US nonfarm payroll employment growth was a gain of 223,000 in June, lower than the revised May gain of 254,000. The average pace of job creation over the past 12 months has been 250,000 per month.
June's employment gains occurred in professional and business services (+64,000), health care and social assistance (+52,800), and retail trade (+32,900).
The participation rate was down 0.3 percentage points to 62.6 and the labour force declined 432,000 over May 2015. The number of unemployed decreased 375,000 to 8.3 million. Last June there were 9.5 million unemployed. The unemployment rate declined 0.2 percentage points to 5.3 per cent over last month and 0.8 percentage points over last year.
