The European Central Bank reported today that the Euro Area (EA19) reported a current account surplus of €26.4 billion in February 2015, down from €30.4 billion in January. This is primarily driven by a rising surplus in goods trade while services and primary income surplus offset the seconday income deficit. Notably, goods exports have been rising while goods imports fall.
The European Union (EU28) reported a €20.4 billion current account surplus in February. The rising EU surplus reflects continued surpluses in services trade and improving surpluses in goods trade and primary income.
