US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, FEBRUARY 2015

U.S. construction spending decreased 0.1 percent in February 2015 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $967.2 billion. Compared to February 2014, construction spending was 2.1 percent higher.

Private construction increased 0.2 percent from January 2015 to $698.2 billion (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in February 2015, and 1.8 percent above the February 2014 estimate. Private residential construction decreased 0.2 percent compared to the January 2015 estimate and is down 2.1 percent compared to a year ago. However, construction spending was up for new single family dwellings (+9.7%) and multi-family dwellings (+31.5%) compared to February of last year. Private non-residential construction increased 0.5 percent in February 2015 and is up 5.9 percent compared to last year.  

Public sector spending decreased 0.8 percent from January 2015 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $260.9 billion and is up 3.1 percent compared to February 2014.
