JAPAN CPI, FEBRUARY 2015

Japan's consumer price index dropped 0.2 per cent in the month February. Compared with the same month in 2014, Japanese consumer prices were up 2.2 per cent, including the effects of a 3 per cent sales tax hike implemented in April.

Among the major categories of price growth were food (4.1%), fuel/light/water (3.5 per cent), clothes and footwear (3.5 per cent) and culture and recreation (3.5 per cent).

Slower price growth was reported in housing (0.3 per cent), transportation and communications (-0.4 per cent) and medical care (1.8 per cent).
