WHOLESALE TRADE, OCTOBER 2014



In October 2014, Nova Scotia's wholesale sales (seasonally adjusted) increased 0.5% from September 2014 to $736.4 million, and increased 2.4% from September 2013.  The wholesale merchants' sales index (Jan 2011=100) increased 0.5 points to 114.7 in October 2014.

In October 2014 Canadian wholesale sales (seasonally adjusted) increased 0.1% from September 2014 to $54.2 billion, and increased 7.5% from October 2013.  The wholesale merchants' sale index (Jan2011=100) increased 0.1 points to 116.5.



In Jan-Oct 2014 Nova Scotia, unadjusted year-to-date Food, beverage and tobacco increased 13.6% ($275.1 million), and Machinery and Equipment increased 13.0% ($149.6 million).  These gains were offset by a -12.9% ($157.3 million) decline in the unadjusted year-to-date Motor vehicle and parts sales.



Nova Scotia year-to-date sales (unadjusted) increased 4.0% over Jan-Oct 2013 to $7.3 billion. Canada's year-to-date sales (unadjusted) increased 6.0% over Jan-Oct 2013 to $526.6 billion.
