October 24, 2014UK GDP, 2014Q3 The UK economy slowed in the third quarter to 07 per cent growth compared to 0.9 per cent the previous quarter according to the preliminary data released today by the UK Office of national statistics. Compared to the third quarter of 2013, the UK economy was 3.0 per cent larger, all figures are seasonally adjusted and have had the effect of price changes removed.
In the third quarter of 2014, the services sector was the main engine of growth, rising by 0.7 per cent compared with 2014Q2. Within the service sector there was growth in all four sub-sectors: distribution, hotels and restaurants (0.5%), transport, storage and communication (+1.1%), business services and finance (+1.0%), and government and other services (+0.3%). The smaller production and construction sectors grew at 0.5 and 0.8 per cent respectively.
