US RETAIL SALES, FEBRUARY 2024

Month over month (February 2024 vs January 2024, seasonally adjusted)

The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales increased 0.6%. Excluding food services and drinking places, retail trade sales increased also 0.6%. Food service and drinking place receipts increased 0.4%.

Year-over-year (February 2023 vs February 2022, seasonally adjusted)

US retail trade and food services increased 1.5%. Retail trade increased 0.8% and food services and drinking places sales increased 6.3%.

Year-to-date (January-February 2024 vs January-February 2023)

Sales were up in 7 of 12 retail categories. The largest decline (in percentage terms) was seen in furniture while the fastest gains were in health and personal care stores as well as non-store retailers.
