March 07, 2024US TRADE BALANCE, JANUARY 2024 Month over month (January 2024 vs December 2023)
The United States goods and services deficit widened by $3.3 billion to $67.4 billion. The goods deficit widened by $3.0 billion to $91.6 billion and, the services surplus narrowed by $313 million to $24.2 billion.
Total exports increased $330 million to $257.2 billion. Goods exports increased $163 million to $171.8 billion and services exports increased $167 million to $85.4 billion.
Total imports increased $3.6 billion to $324.6 billion. Goods imports increased $3.1 billion to $263.4 billion and services imports increased $480 million to $61.3 billion.
Year over year (January 2024 vs January 2023)
The US trade deficit widened by $2.9 billion. The goods deficit widened by $1.4 billion and, the services surplus narrowed by $4.3 billion.
Total exports decreased by $1.0 billion (-0.4%). Goods exports decreased $6.0 billion (-3.4%) and services exports increased $5.0 billion (+6.2%).
Total imports decreased $3.9 million (-1.2%). Goods imports decreased $4.6 billion (-1.7%) and services imports increased $728 billion (+1.2%).
