NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-SEPTEMBER 2017

In January-September 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 10.9% over Jan-Sep 2016. The 47,326 new vehicles sold in January-September represented a value of $1.7 billion, up 15.6% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January-September 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 5.5 per cent over Jan-Sep 2016 to 1,619,406 units. January-September dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 10.5 per cent over January-September 2016 to $64.4 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-September 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value  increased 19.3% (81.4% share) over Jan-Sep 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 1.7% (18.6% share) over Jan-Sep 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-September 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 13.9% (79.6% share) over Jan-Sep 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 0.4% (20.4% share) over Jan-Sep 2016.

Average Prices

In January-September 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 4.7% to $39,746 over Jan-Sep 2016.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price increased 4.3% to $35,363 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-September 2017, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 5.8 per cent over Jan-Sep 2016 to 17,086 units. January-September passenger car dollar sales increased 9.0 per cent over January-September 2016 to $452 million.

In January-September 2017, Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 13.9 per cent over Jan-Sep 2016 to 30,240 units. January-September truck dollar sales increased 18.2 per cent over January-September 2016 to $1.2 billion.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 73.0%, and the unit sales volume stands at 63.9%

 



In Nova Scotia January-September 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,391 and increased for cars to $26,463 over Jan-Sep 2016.
