NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-JULY 2017

In January-July 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 9.2% over Jan-Jul 2016. The 35962 new vehicles sold in January-July represented a value of $1.28 billion, up 15.1% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January-July 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 5.0 per cent over Jan-Jul 2016 to 1,241,568 units. January-July dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 10.3 per cent over January-July 2016 to $49.2 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-July 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value  increased 20.3% (79.3% share) over Jan-Jul 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 4.6% (20.7% share) over Jan-Jul 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-July 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 13.9% (81.3% share) over Jan-Jul 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 7.2% (18.7% share) over Jan-Jul 2016.

Average Prices

In January-July 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 5.0% to $39,633 over Jan-Jul 2016.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price increased 5.4% to $35,516 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-July 2017, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 1.6 per cent over Jan-Jul 2016 to 12,800 units. January-July passenger car dollar sales increased 5.5 per cent over January-July 2016 to $338.1 million.

In January-July 2017, Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 14.0 per cent over Jan-Jul 2016 to 23,162 units. January-July truck dollar sales increased 19.0 per cent over January-July 2017 to $939.2 million.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 73.5%, and the unit sales volume stands at 64.4%

 



In Nova Scotia January-July 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,548 and increased for cars to $26,413 over Jan-Jul 2016.
