UK GDP Q2 2017 (SECOND ESTIMATE)

In the Office for National Statistics’ second estimate of the UK Gross Domestic Product for Quarter 2 2017, real GDP is estimated to have increased by 0.3 per cent for the second quarter of 2017, unchanged from the preliminary estimate.

Growth was mainly due to services which grew by 0.5 per cent compared to 0.1 per cent in Quarter 1, and partially offset by declines in construction (-1.3%) and production (-0.3%). Services growth was broad-based with increases in all four sub-sectors: distribution, hotels, and restaurants; transport, storage and communication; business services and finance; and government. Production fell due to lower manufacturing and construction declined with decreases in repairs and new activity.
