July 05, 2017EU RETAIL TRADE, MAY 2017 Retail Trade Index
In the Euro Area (EA19) May 2017, retail sales volumes index (calendar and seasonally adjusted) increased 0.4 per cent to 106.8 over April 2017 and increased 2.6 per cent over May 2016.
In the European Union Area (EU28) May 2017, retail sales volumes index (calendar and seasonally adjusted) increased 0.2 per cent to 110.0 over April 2017 and increased 2.6 per cent over May 2016..
Month over Month
In May 2017, the volume of month over month Automotive fuel sales increased 1.7% while Computer equipment, books increased 0.7%. In the EU28, the volume of month over month Computer equipment, books 1.6% while Electrical goods and furnitur declined 1.3%.
Year over Year
In the EU28, the largest year over year percent increase was in Mail Order/Internet sales at 11.2%. In the EA19 the largest year over year percent increase was also in Mail Order/Internet sales at 5.4%.
