June 15, 2017EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, APRIL 2017 In April 2017, the euro area (EA19) recorded a €17.9 bn surplus in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world. The first estimate for EA19 exports of goods reported a decrease of 3 per cent to €167.7 billion over April 2016. Imports increased 3 per cent to €149.8 bn over April 2016.
It was also reported that intra-euro area trade was stable at €144.7 bn over April 2016.
In April 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €0.1 bn deficit in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods reported a decrease of 2 per cent to €144.6 billion over April 2016. Imports increased 2 per cent to €142.3 bn over April 2016.
It was also reported that intra-EU28 area trade decreased 1 per cent to €259.2 bn over April 2016.

In January-April 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €39.5 bn surplus in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods reported a increase of 6 per cent to €126.0 billion over Jan-Apr 2016. Imports increased 2 per cent to €86.5 bn over Jan-Apr 2016.
In January-April 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €1.7 bn surplus in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods reported a increase of 12 per cent to €12.4 billion over Jan-Apr 2016. Imports increased 7 per cent to €10.7 bn over Jan-Apr 2016.
