US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, MAY 2017

The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers decreased 0.1 per cent in May 2017 (seasonally adjusted) on a month to month basis. In May, the energy index declined 2.7 per cent, led by a decline in fuel oil prices of 6.4 per cent. Food and shelter each rose 0.2 per cent.

Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 1.9 per cent before seasonal adjustment, down from 2.2 per cent year over year, last month. 

The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.1 per cent in May. For the 12-months ending in May, the index for all items less food and energy rose 1.7 per cent, the energy index increased 5.4 per cent, and the food index was up 0.9 per cent.
