UK TRADE BALANCE MARCH 2017

UK import and export trade is a main contributor to the overall economic growth of the UK.

In March 2017,

  • the UK deficit in the UK goods and services balance of trade was increased  £2.3 billion to £4.9 billion from February 2017.
  • the increase of the trade in goods deficit was mainly due to the small increase in exports of goods and services (+£0.6 billion) over the larger increase in imports of goods and services (+£2.9 billion).

Quotes:

"... the latest trade data show that the total trade deficit widened by £2.3 billion in March compared with February, with growth in import values (5.6%) greater than growth in export values (1.3%)"...
