YTD - Selected Commodities
In Nova Scotia for January-March 2017, merchandise exports ($1.245 billion) decreased $40.2 million over the Jan-Mar 2016 exports ($1.1284.7 billion). Increases in Forestry, Consumer products, and other exports were not sufficient to offset declines in Farming/fishing, Chemicals, Motor Vehicles and energy products.
Year-to-date (YTD ) results for:
- Farm, fishing and intermediate food products decreased from $261 million to $235 million
- Motor vehicles and parts decreased from $326 million to $312 million;
- Chemicals, plastics and rubber products have decreased from $89 million to $87 million;
- Energy products have decreased from $47 million to $10 million;
- Forestry products have increased from $145.6 million to $146.0 million;
- Consumer products have increased from $239 million to $245 million;
- the remaining commodities have increased from $178 million to $209 million.
YTD by Province
In Jan-Mar 2017, Nova Scotia ranked ninth from among the provinces in growth of domestic exports. Year-to-date exports decreased 3.1 per cent over the same period last year. Canadian ytd exports are up 7.5 per cent.
Nova Scotia's non-energy exports ranking 9th among the provinces and have decreased 0.3 per cent over Jan-Mar 2016. Nationally, non-energy exports are down 1.0 per cent.
