EU AND EURO AREA GDP, Q1 2017

Real GDP rose by 1.8 per cent (seasonally adjusted annualized rate) in both the euro area (EA19) and the European Union (EU28) during the first quarter of 2017, compared with the previous quarter, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. Last quarter, the EA GDP rose by 1.9 per cent and the EU GDP was up 2.3 per cent on an annualized basis. 

Comparing Q1 2017 with Q1 2016, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.7 per cent in the euro area (down from 1.8 per cent in the previous quarter) and by 1.9 per cent in the EU28, after gains of 1.8 per cent and 1.9 per cent, respectively, in the previous quarter.
