NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2017

In January-February 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales decreased 6.6% over Jan-Feb 2016. The 5,675 new vehicles sold in January-February represented a value of $215.7 million, up 2.7% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January-February 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 2.4 per cent over Jan-Feb 2016 to 238,280 units. January-February dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 5.9 per cent over January-February 2016 to $9.6 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-February 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value increased 5.0% (83.2% share) over Jan-Feb 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 8.9% (16.8% share) over Jan-Feb 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-February 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales decreased 5.7% (82.8% share) over Jan-Feb 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 10.7% (17.2% share) over Jan-Feb 2016.

Average Prices

In January-February 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 3.4% to $40,117 over Jan-Feb 2016.  In Nova Scotia the average unit price increased 9.9% to $38,012 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-February 2017,  Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales decreased 19.9 per cent over Jan-Feb 2016 to 1,693 units. January-February passenger car dollar sales decreased 20.0 per cent over January-February 2016 to $43.2 million.

In January-February 2017,  Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 0.5 per cent over Jan-Feb 2016 to 3,982 units. January-February truck dollar sales increased 10.5 per cent over January-February 2017 to $172.5 million.

The truck share of the new motor vehicle sales value stands at 80.0%, and in the new motor vehicle unit sales volume stands at 70.2%

 



In Nova Scotia January-February 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $43,330 and decreased for cars to $25,504.
