TERANET-NATIONAL BANK HOUSE PRICE INDEX, MARCH 2017

Halifax home prices as measured by the Teranet-National Bank House Price declined 1.7 per cent in March 2017, following a 1.9 per cent decline in February. The Halifax price level was 4.1 per cent above the March 2016 level. 

For the month of March, the Teranet national index (composite of 11 cities) rose 0.9 per cent, the largest March rise in 10 years.

In February, 6 out of 11 cities experienced increases. 

Nationally, (Composite-11) house prices are 13.5 per cent above their levels in March of last year.  The increase was led by Toronto, Hamilton, Victoria and Vancouver.   

Comparing the first three months of 2017 to the same period in 2016, Halifax home prices are up 2.7 per cent.  Nationally, (Composite-11) house prices are 13.3 per cent above their levels in the first three months of last year.
