EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, JANUARY 2017

In January 2017, the euro area (EA19) recorded a €0.6 bn deficit in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world. The first estimate for EA19 exports of goods reported an increase of 13 per cent to €163.9 billion over January 2016. Imports increased 17 per cent to €164.5 bn over January 2016.

It was also reported that intra-euro area trade increased 10 per cent to €145.7 bn over January 2016.

In January 2017, the European Union (EU28) recorded a €16.2 bn deficit in trade in goods (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world. The first estimate for EU28 exports of goods  reported an increase of 16 per cent to €141.2 billion over January 2015. Imports increased 18 per cent to €157.4 bn over January 2015.

It was also reported that intra-EU28 area trade increased 10 per cent to €262.4 bn over January 2016.
