NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY 2017

In January 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales  increased 20.7% over January 2016. The 2,914 new vehicles sold in January represented a value of $113 million, up 8.0% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January 2017,  Canadian unit sales increased 2.1 per cent over January 2015 to 112,996 units. January dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 5.6 per cent over January 2016 to $4.5 billion.

 

In Nova Scotia January 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value increased 22.6% (85.6% share) over January 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 10.5% (14.4% share) over January 2016.




In Nova Scotia January 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 8.4% (83.3% share) over January 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 6.3% (16.7.0% share) over January 2016.

Average Prices

In January 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 3.4% to $40,137 over January 2016.  In Nova Scotia the average unit price increased 11.7% to $38,855 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January 2017,  Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 5.7 per cent over January 2016 to 912 units. January passenger car dollar sales increased 6.4 per cent over January 2016 to $23.4 million.

In January 2017,  Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 9.2 per cent over January 2016 to 2,002 units. January truck dollar sales increased 25.1 per cent over January 2016 to $89.8 million.

The truck share of the new motor vehicle sales value stands at 79.3%, and in the new motor vehicle unit sales volume stands at 20.7%

 



In Nova Scotia January 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks is $44,866 and for cars is $25,659.
