TERANET-NATIONAL BANK HOUSE PRICE INDEX, FEBRUARY 2017

Halifax home prices as measured by the Teranet-National Bank House Price declined 1.9 per cent in February 2017, following no change in January. The Halifax price level was 2.6 per cent above the February 2016 level. 

For the month of February, the Teranet national index (composite of 11 cities) rose 1.0 per cent. This was the largest increase in the national composite index for the month of February. The February rise was the thirteenth consecutive monthly gain, each time for a new record.  

In February, 4 out of 11 cities experienced increases. Vancouver experienced a second month of increase following a rise in January and declines in the three previous months. 

Nationally, (Composite-11) house prices are 13.4 per cent above their levels in February of last year, the largest 12-month increase since November 2006.  The increase was led by Toronto, Hamilton, Victoria and Vancouver.
