March 07, 2017EU AND EURO AREA GDP, Q4 2016 (REVISED ESTIMATE)
Real GDP rose by 1.6 per cent (seasonally adjusted annualized rate) in the euro area (EA19) and by 2.1 per cent in the EU28 during the fourth quarter of 2016, compared with the previous quarter, according to a revised estimate published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. The EU28 growth rate was revised up from 2.0 per cent in the flash estimate, while the EA19 growth rate was unchanged. In the third quarter of 2016, GDP grew by 1.7 per cent in the euro area and 1.8 per cent in the EU28.
Comparing fourth quarter 2016 with fourth quarter 2015, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.7 per cent in the euro area (down from 1.8 per cent in the previous quarter) and by 1.9 per cent in the EU28 (unchanged from the previous quarter).
