In January 2017, Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted) posted a $807 million surplus. Over the last 97 months the accumulated deficit stands at $81.6 billion.
In January 2017, imports decreased 0.3% over December 2016 to $45.6 billion, and decreased 2.1% over January 2016. Over the last 97 months, imports have totaled $3.87 trillion. In January 2017, exports increased 0.5% over December 2016 to $46.5 billion, and increased 1.8% over January 2016. Over the last 97 months, exports have totaled $3.79 trillion.
