February 15, 2017UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, OCTOBER 2016 TO DECEMBER 2016
The UK Office for National Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate for the three month period October 2016 to December 2016 was 4.8 per cent. This is down from the rate of 5.1 per cent compared to the same months in 2015 and it has not been lower since July to September 2005.
There were 1.60 million unemployed people, little changed compared with July to September 2016 but 97,000 fewer than for a year earlier.
Employment was at 31.84 million, 37,000 more than for July to September 2016 and 302,000 more than for a year earlier.
The annual average unemployment rate for the UK was 4.9 per cent, down from 5.4 percent in 2015.
