CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE DECEMBER and ANNUAL 2016

DECEMBER

In December 2016, Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted) posted a $923 million surplus. Over the last 96 months the accumulated deficit improved to $82.6 billion. 


In December 2016, imports increased 1.0% over November 2016 to $45.5 billion, and decreased 0.7% over December 2015. Over the last 96 months, imports have totaled $3.83 trillion. In December 2016, exports increased 0.8% over November 2016 to $46.4 billion, and increased 3.4% over December 2015. Over the last 96 months, exports have totaled $3.74 trillion. 

 

 

 

ANNUAL

In 2016 in Canada, net international trade in goods deficit increased $3.1 billion to $26.1 billion over 2015. Exports declined $3.8 billion to $521.1 billion  and imports declined $720 million to $547.2 billion over 2015.
