LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - JULY 2015

In Nova Scotia July 2015 (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

- Labour force increased 0.9% (+4,300) from June 2015 to 489,300 and decreased -0.7% (-3,300) over July 2014.

- Employment increased 0.7% (+3,100) from June 2015 to 449,500 and increased 0.9% (+3,800) over July 2014.

- Unemployment increased 2.8% (+1,100) from June 2015 to 39,800 and decreased 15.1% (-7,100) over July 2014.

- Unemployment rate increased 0.1 percentage points from June 2015 to 8.1%.



In Canada July 2015 (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

- Labour force was little changed (+8,700) from June 2015 to 19.3 million and increased 0.6% (+118,600) over July 2014.

- Employment remained virtually unchanged (+6,600) from June 2015 to 18.0 million and increased 0.9% (+161,400) over July 2014.

- Unemployment increased 0.2% (+2,100) from June 2015 to 1.3 million and decreased 3.2% (-42,800) over July 2014.

- Unemployment rate remained unchanged from June 2015 at 6.8%.

 

In Halifax July 2015 (3 month moving average, seasonally adjusted):

- Labour force increased 0.4% (+900) from June 2015 to 237,500 and increased 1.1% (+2,500) over July 2014.

- Employment increased 0.9% (+2,000) from June 2015 to 222,900 and increased 1.1% (+2,400) over July 2014.

- Unemployment decreased 7.6% (-1,200) from June 2015 to 14,600 and increased 1.4% (+200) over July 2014.

- Unemployment rate decreased 0.6 percentage points from June 2015 to 6.1%.
