What's Involved?

Step 4: Becoming certified

When the certifying body is satisfied that your company has met all its performance indicators, you will receive your certificate. The length of time between submitting your application and receiving your certificate will vary, depending on the certification process your product or service needs to go through (for example, whether there is an audit and/or a public consultation process) and whether or not you have to make improvements to achieve some standards. The Forestry Stewardship Council usually grants its Chain of Custody certificates four to six weeks after an application is made.

Your certificate will be valid for a certain length of time, usually five years.

Step 5: Maintaining your certification
