Nova Scotia Power Incorporated Grant-in-Lieu of Property Tax

As per legislation, Nova Scotia Power Incorporated (NSPI) must make an annual payment in lieu of property tax. This amount is increased annually by the Consumer Price Index.

Grant Calculation

The province uses the NSPI assessments from the Property Valuation Services Corporation to calculate each municipality's share of total NSPI assessment.

How to Apply

Municipal units are not required to apply for the NSPI Grant-in-Lieu. Using the data provided by the Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC), the Department of Municipal Affairs calculate each municipality's NSPI Grant-in-Lieu amount, and payments are typically made in the month of June.
