Commercial Vehicle Permits and Registration Regulations

made under subsection 302(1) of the
Motor Vehicle Act
R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 293
O.I.C. 87-690, N.S. Reg. 111/87

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Transportation dated the 22nd day of April, 1987, and pursuant to subsection (1) of Section 270 of Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to determine, effective as, of and from the lst day of November, 1986, the following:

1 Where under the Motor Vehicle Act the registration of and permit for a commercial motor vehicle, a motor bus, a camper or a truck tractor of a weight of more than 5000 kilograms, excluding those vehicles registered under the Pro-Rated Registration Regulations, or a trailer of a weight of more than 1500 kilograms are made and issued

(a) between the lst day of July and the 30th day of September in any year, the fee payable to the Department of Business and Consumer Services for the registration and permit will be sixty percent of the annual registration fee; and

(b) between the lst day of October and the 31st day of December in any year, the fee payable to the Department of Business and Consumer Services for the registration and permit shall be thirty-five percent of the annual registration fee.

2 (1) Where the registered weight of a commercial motor vehicle or truck tractor registered for more than 5000 kilograms or a trailer registered for more than 1500 kilograms, excluding those vehicles registered under the Pro-Rated Registration Regulations, for any year is increased at any time between the lst day of July and the 30th day of September in the year, the fee payable for the increased registered weight shall be sixty percent of the difference between the annual fee for the registered weight and the fee payable for the registration of the vehicle at the weight at which it was registered before the increase.

(2) Where the registered weight of a commercial motor vehicle or truck tractor registered for more than 5000 kilograms or a trailer registered for more than 1500 kilograms, excluding those vehicles registered under the Pro-Rated Registration Regulations, for any year is increased at any time between the lst day of October and the 31st day of December in the year, the fee payable for the increased registered weight shall be thirty-five percent of the difference between the annual fee for the registered weight and the fee payable for the registration of the vehicle at the weight at which it was registered before the increase.

The Governor in Council is further pleased to order that this determination shall be effective as, of and from the lst day of August, 1986.
