Cheryl A. Morris

Kwey!  My name is Cheryl Morris and I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as HIV/BBP/STI Nurse Coordinator/Program Manager for the Communicable Disease & Control unit at Health Canada:  FNIH Regional Office in Halifax serving the Atlantic Region.  I am a member of our Occupational Health and Safety Committee, a shop steward with PIPS and a union member of our NS Health Services Chapter.

I completed my BScN at the University of Saskatchewan and at Dalhousie in Halifax and I am presently working on my MPH through University of Saskatchewan via distance education.  I have a wide range of clinical and public health skills. I have substantive experience as a Charge Nurse in Intensive Care at the QEII HSC as well as holding positions as Nurse Educator at the QEII HSC, a Community Health Nurse with Planned Parenthood, a Public Health Nurse with Capital Health and working as a Youth Health Centre Nurse Coordinator within the local high schools.

I have volunteered my time and experience for the National Aboriginal Health Organization, served 4 years on the Board of Directors within a Family Resource Centre, volunteered for IWK steering committees and as a home visitor for the IWK Extra Support for Parents Program.

I am originally from Ontario and of Algonquin descent.  I look forward to serving on the board of Directors with NSAC and having a voice for our NS Aboriginal people.

Megwetch!
